About Us

Our History

Established in 1976, Landulph Under Fives has evolved over the last 45 years into a successful and thriving preschool which really cares for and nurtures the children in our care. We are based in a bespoke preschool learning room at the back of Landulph Memorial Hall in Cargreen. After running a pop up preschool in the main hall for around 35 years, we raised enough funds and converted the old snooker room which had run into disrepair and revived it for many generations to come.

Landulph Under Fives is a small committee led pre-school for 2-5 year olds in the riverside village of Cargreen, just 5 miles from both Saltash and Callington. We are a registered charity which requires a committee with the majority of membership being reserved for parents (60%).

We were rated Good in our most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2018.

The pre-school has a dedicated space attached to the lively village hall, with use of a fabulous outside space. Many of the children go on to Landulph School, with children attending from the parish of Landulph as well as from Hatt, Botus Fleming, Callington, Landrake, Saltash and the surrounding areas.

Our Mission

Landulph Under Fives Preschool is a friendly and enthusiastic group, aiming to provide all our children with a secure and motivating environment in which they can develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.  A friendly place to grow, to think, to learn, to play and to make friends.

We offer a space for children to be themselves, to explore the world around them and learn through play.  We follow a structure at preschool so the children become comfortable with a routine and this helps them to feel safe and secure.  We encourage friendships in an inclusive setting where new friendships are borne which can last a lifetime.  As a small, friendly and dedicated preschool, we can offer your child the attention and nurturing they need at preschool age.  We are able to have fun with the children in our setting while also being available to comfort the little ones if needed or wanted.

Rated Good

Landulph Under Fives is Ofsted inspected and was rated as “Good in all areas” in its most recent inspection in Autumn 2018.

Landulph Under Fives is particularly proud of the recent improvements in the leadership and management section

“The new manager is committed to providing high – quality care and education for the children.”

…and delighted that quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children all maintained their good ratings.

Landulph Under Fives is also particularly proud of the team who work hard to maintain the high standards and lovely atmosphere of the Landulph Under Fives setting

“Staff know the children well and welcome them warmly at the start of each session. Children arrive confidently and settle in quickly, happy to see their friends and eager to start playing.”
