Useful Information

Session Times and Fees

Currently we offer breakfast club from 8.30am-9am where children enjoy a bowl of cereal, a slice of toast and a drink with their friends. They really love starting the day by having breakfast with their friends and we love having extra time with them! Our sessions run from 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm. Children are welcome to stay or come in early to join us for lunch from 12pm-1pm. We offer wraparound care after preschool from 3pm-4pm.

We aim to offer breakfast club and wraparound sessions on an ongoing basis, however this depends on uptake of children and is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure its financial viability. We will always consult with parents before making any decisions in relation to this matter.

Breakfast club 8.30am – 9am £2.50
Morning  session 9am – 12pm £13.50
Lunch 12pm – 1pm £4.50

Current Opening Times

Term time only:
Tuesday: 8.30am – 3pm
Wednesday: 8.30am – 3pm
Thursday: 8.30am – 4pm
Friday: 8.30am – 3pm
We hope these reduced hours will only be temporary but it wholly depends on the amount of children booked in per session. We try our hardest to offer 10 sessions per week and hope to be back to full operating hours soon. We can offer breakfast club and after school club – please speak to a member of staff for more information.

Snack and Food

Snack is provided by the preschool and all the children sit down at 10.30am to share a snack which comprises of two fruits, one carbohydrate and a dairy product. Milk and water is provided. When possible, children will also be provided with dips such as hummus and meat such as ham or chicken. Children should be supplied with their own drink bottle which can be left at preschool.

Packed lunches from home are required for all children who attend during 12pm and 1pm. Children are always welcome to join us for lunch if they only attend the morning session. Parents are encouraged to include the following in their child’s packed lunch:
  • sandwiches/wraps/pitta bread with a healthy filling,
  • fruit,
  • and milk based desserts, such as yoghurt.
  • We prefer the children to have a healthy packed lunch and encourage parents and careers to support us in this by providing a balanced lunch for their child.
Landulph Under Fives adhere to the Healthy Under 5s initiative through Healthy Cornwall at Cornwall Council. For more information please click below.

Typical Day

Children arrive for breakfast club from 8.30am and sit down together to enjoy some cereal, toast and a drink ready to start the day with lots of energy for playing with their friends. At 9am more children arrive for the morning session and we welcome them to preschool where they join their friends for some free play while the children settle in. We start the day with a wake up shake up activity and can often be found dancing around preschool to our favourite nursery rhymes. We then all sit down for circle time to talk about our topic for the term, things we have done and we may play a game. We also teach the children Jolly Phonics and this takes place during circle time too.

We believe it is important to gradually build children’s independence both in their play and the choices they make. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. Each child is allocated a Key Worker to ensure that their individual needs and development are met. They enjoy free time at various points of the day along with plenty of outside play where they can choose the activities they would like to do from a range that are on offer. When the children are inside, we typically have writing activities, drawing and art, building and construction, and our home corner which we transform into different things depending on our topic. It has been a Farm Shop, School, Market, Home from Home and much more. We have an array of resources for our preschoolers to explore. Outside we have access to some raised flower beds where we enjoy growing fruit (our strawberries make delicious snacks) and digging the ground developing our motor skills! We particularly love looking for wildlife with our binoculars and hunting for bugs with our bug hunting kits. We are also fond of riding our bikes, driving our Little Tikes cars, playing football and learning balancing skills. We embed maths and language throughout the time at preschool and focussed group or individual activities take place to ensure the children are learning at their own pace and progressing appropriately for them. We love messy play, painting, cutting and sticking, singing and reading stories.
